Okay so I know you Vancouverites are having some chilly spells as well. It’s a different kind of cold, though equally terrible as what I am going through today. That wet sticking to your bones cold. Here it’s just so cold your ears sting and your nostrils freeze together and your eyes start to glaze with ice unless you blink. Its a ridiculous -27c today and it’s supposed to get colder. No snow days in Prince George unfortunately. This terrible cold is reminding me of one of my favorite bed time stories of all time, an illustrated poem, the Cremation of Sam McGee. It was written by Robert W. Service and the version I grew up with was illustrated by Ted Harrison. It was magical to me when I was little, and the beautiful illustrations made me fall in love with the icy Northern climates.
